A friend off mine asked me the other day to explain to him what green means, and if he should buy a certain product from a certain company. While recommending sites that he should check, I mentioned nau, and found out about their closing. I was under shock, because they were a company that I looked up to, since I started my apparel line last year. But as a woman, and a fashion designer, I do think that outside of the economy, what also worked against them was the unclear message: was it performance or fashion, or both? But if it was fashion it should have been more fashion like with attractive colors, and designs. If it was performance, it should have been just that. But what I admire the most was the sustainability message, and their "partners for change" program. Maybe we were not ready to step along with them in that direction, but I think that nau will be back, and then we will be ready .
