Climbing a Colorado Peak, Peak Organic Brewing Co.
Occasionally Green Cotton covers a topic off the textile and fashion grid when we see something eco-friendly and cool in our green value-sphere. Last week, such a company caught our attention, Peak Organic Brewery. How did we come across them? Well, Peak Organic Brewery hosted a beer dinner at Cambridge Common, in Cambridge, MA a restaurant that offers local and organic beers. The beer dinner was all organic, vegetarian, and not surprisingly delicious– peaking my interest in organic beer and business ethics to a new level.
For those if you who have not heard of Peak Organics yet, they are currently one of the only breweries in the United States devoted entirely to brewing organic beer. While only a baby brewery (less then 10 years old), Peak Organics already dominates the organic beer industry in the United States (46% of all organic beer sold in the United States is from Peak Organic).
Why Peak Organics? The name, “Peak Organics” came from the idea that this beer is to be used to “toast” all the “Peak” experiences and activities in your life. In fact, they invite all customers to share their own peak experiences on their website for others to then view and rate if they want. For instance, “Riding a balloon at a Taiwanese amusement park/aboriginal cultural village” was submitted by Alden Parker from Pottstown Pennsylvania, as one of his personal ‘Peak’ life experiences, and another as seen below, atop Mt Washington, NH.

Peak’s devotion to organics is strong, as they believe “In using only the purest organic ingredients in our brews, making them tastier and more enjoyable for you and for the planet.” And I happen agree after participating in the beer dinner. Their brews are very tasty, and it makes it all the better to know you are not consuming any dangerous pesticides with your beer!

For something different, try their Pomegranate Wheat Ale with Acai or their Espresso Amber Ale.
Peak Organics is not only devoted to a sustainable and organic beer, but also leading a sustainable business and lifestyle. They gave out certified organic cotton T-shirts to promote their brewery instead of glass cups like most other breweries, chose to support local by collaborating with farmers and small businesses to create a unique Maple Oat Ale, and are currently having a contest on their website where you can sign up to win a bicycle!
