What are you doing for Earth Day?

April is an exciting month, in fact its our favorite month! As you may have guessed its earth month, with Earth Day being April 22nd. Its no wonder that Earth Day falls at the onset of Spring, with the flowers abloom, birds a-chirping, and rejuvenation in the air. What better month to ditch old habits, try something new, and honor Mother Earth!

So, in the spirit of earth day, we would like to ask you to tell us what YOU are planning to do (or are doing) this month for Earth Day and Earth Month. Tell us what your company or non-profit is doing or tell us what you are doing personally.  However large or small, we want to hear from you – its all good.

Leave your ideas in our comment box or send us an email (info[at]greencottonblog.com). We will also select a winner and the winner with be featured on our blog in a feature story AND you will also receive a candy wrapper purse (valued at $24.95). Winners will be selected by a panel of 3 writers for Green Cotton blog after midnight on Earth Day April 22nd, 2009.

So tell us your story: what you are doing personally for earth month OR what your company or non-profit is doing!

Here in Monterey, California, for Earth Day 2009, I’m biking into town for our Sustainable Cities Symposium, sponsored by the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Bill McKibben, whose work I’ve long admired, will be one of the guest panelists.

For Earth Day I’m going to spend my day laughing at all of you self-satisfied ninnies who actually think that your actions will have any direct impact on the climate. Also, I and my eight children are going to turn on all our lights, run the furnace downstairs, run the A/C upstairs, run the swamp cooler (all with the windows open), run my ceiling fans, turn on the oven (with the door open), run my garden hose all day in the empty lot behind my house, idle my 8 cylinder truck and 8 cylinder van and 4 banger Honda (all with the A/C’s blasting with doors open), both computers on, 58″ Plasma on, vacuum on, and then I’m going to have a bonfire in which we’ll burn plastics, styrofoam (using wood from a tree I cut down with my diesel chain saw), and for dinner eat deer I nabbed this past season. Yum!

    What are you doing?
